The news? There is no news. The guys discuss the slow-moving discussions around the pending Erik Karlsson trade, from cost to rosters and how Miro Heiskanen is most definitely better than Erik Karlsson and nothing can go wrong.
With all of the deals flooding in from free agency and Tavares jumping to Toronto, we give our opinions on all of the major moves. Daniel and Taylor debate the merits of controversial moves from the Dallas Stars after missing out on Tavares. We discuss Stastny spurning Winnepeg for the Vegas Golden Knights, the ridiculous contracts, the goalie carousel, and Dylan, of course, goes over the Red Wings minor moves. At the end, we fail to predict the future! Yeah the O’Reilly trade happened right when we finished recording.
The Red Wings and the Stars made some pretty interesting selections for the 2018 draft. The whole gang goes through the draft classes for both teams and offers their takes.
The 2018 NHL Draft has arrived! In this special extended episode, Daniel and Taylor discuss the strategies and potential targets for both the Stars and Red Wings ahead of Friday night’s festivities.
Washington won it all and we look back at the mess that was the 2017-18 season. The Capitals players, especially Alex Ovechkin, have been raucously enjoying their new hardware in ways that never cease to entertain. The season as a whole, though, took some very unexpected turns, from players suddenly reemerging to entire teams crumbling under the weight of offseason expectations. We discuss the chances of bizarre history repeating itself and pay homage to the unceremonious end to one of the NHL’s greatest careers.
Todd Nelson joins the Stars bench, further breaking Dylan’s heart, and the Capitals might have found the way to stop the Knights. In this week’s episode, we discuss how Nelson’s move from Grand Rapids to the Stars affects the team’s ability to succeed and what it shows about the state of the league as a whole. We also cover the eerily similar Texas-Toronto and Vegas-Washington finals, where the Stars are finding success on the back of incredible goaltending but Vegas is beginning to show signs of falling back to earth.
There are tons of storylines for the Stanley Cup Final between the Caps and Golden Knights. We discuss the goaltending duel between Fleury and Holtby, Dylan walks back his saltiness at Vegas, we cover the players we are rooting for, and much, much more.
Vegas continues to thrive on our doubts, and the Texas Stars recent success begs the question if farm team success even matters. In this episode, we marvel at Fleury’s stealing of a series and the possibility that the Jets were worn out from their seven game slugfest with the Predators. We then transition to talk about the Texas Stars also having an amazing goaltender in Mike McKenna and their strong chance of winning the Calder Cup. Both the Texas Stars and the Red Wings’ Grand Rapids Griffins have won Calder Cups recently. We wonder why this hasn’t translated to success at the NHL level.
Whoops, we posted the wrong episode. This one is right!
At last, we have balance. For a little while, anyway. We have our very first guest, Ian, Dylan’s brother to finally give the Red Wings equal representation with the Stars. The Jets look like they may be the team to finally figure out the Golden Knights with a convincing game 1 win. The Capitals also start off strong with a huge 2-0 lead on the Lightning. Finally, we give a preview on who the Wings and Stars might pick and whether or not they might be willing to make some crazy draft floor moves.
The Stars have found their new head coach, and his name is Jim! Monty looks to bring a fast-paced aggressive system and be a coach that the players trust. Before we get into all of this on the episode, we discuss the historic ending of the Capitals meme of never reaching past the second round. We discuss the dominance of the Tampa Bay Lightning and our excitement to see Brad Marchand and his licking of players gone from the playoffs. We discuss the insane game 7 coming up between the Preds and Jets Thursday night. And of course we discuss the underdog or underdogs, the Vegas Golden Nights and their historic run to the conference finals. Finally, we preview some exciting things that we will be covering in the summer, whether that be the draft coverage or advanced statistics Dylan did on the stars and red wings’ season.
